Frequently asked questions

Q:    Is Sherwood Energy Village the name of the site in Ollerton, or the organisation?
A:    It is actually both the name of our site and the trading name of our organisation.

Q:    So what is the Industrial and Provident Society?  Is that something different?
A:    An Industrial and Provident Society is the legal structure within which SEV was formed in 1996. Our registered name is Sherwood Environmental Village Ltd., but everybody knows us as Sherwood Energy Village (SEV).

Q:   Is Sherwood Energy Village a charitable trust?
A:    No.  It is an Industrial and Provident Society for the benefit of the community.  That is to say that surplus profit is applied to our regeneration aims and which play a vital role in enhancing the local economy.

Q:   Are local authorities and other agencies involved as “partners” in the organisation?
A:   No.  The organisation elects its directors annually and all directors are share-holding members of the Society.  Other organisations are not represented on the Board.  This helps to ensure the integrity of the SEV vision.

Q:   Are you selling off plots for self- build housing?
A:    No.  With 196 houses planned, the SEVille development has to work as a whole and this includes attention to spaces between houses as well, so individual plot development wouldn’t necessarily work through either design or time-scales.
